Dead Cells is finally getting a paid expansion pack after 16 free updates. The Bad Seed will launch on February 11 and adds two new early-game biomes, the Arboretum and the Swamp. The expansion includes new environments, enemies, and different types of weapons. A new trailer for Dead Cells: The Bad Seed was also released.
"Explore a relaxing Arboretum, wade through a noxious Swamp and take on a new boss in this new early game content designed to expand the Dead Cells universe and add variety to runs for people who want to support the development of the game," the official Steam description reads.
It seems that the DLC was made to support Dead Cells’ future development and upcoming expansion packs. "We’ve been releasing free updates for Dead Cells for over a year now," developer Motion Twin said. "This paid DLC is designed to support that effort, allow us to expand the game even more and ensure that Motion Twin have the time they need to make their next game one they’ll be proud of and you’ll be stoked to play."
You can purchase The Bad Seed expansion pack for only $5, with a 10 percent discount if you already own the base game. Both DLC and base game can also be purchased as a bundle with a 10 percent discount. Motion Twin announced that they will host a Reddit AMA on February 15 at 8 a.m. EST, and developers will answer questions about the new DLC pack and what the future holds for the Dead Cells franchise.
