A couple of weeks ago, developer Behavior Interactive announced cross-play for Dead By Daylight across all platforms. Now, the studio has revealed that Dead by Daylight is also coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X with upgraded visuals. The best part, it will be a free upgrade for those who already own copies of Dead by Daylight on current-gen consoles.
Major Graphical Rework
Behavior Interactive said that Dead By Daylight will be launching on next-gen consoles this Holiday season. The game will run at a stunning 4K resolution, with a smooth 60 FPS framerate. Players that own the game on either of the current-gen consoles will be eligible for a free next-gen upgrade when switching to either the PS5 or Xbox Series X.
Dead By Daylight is also getting a free graphical overhaul update that will be available to all players, across all platforms. The goal of this graphical overhaul is to increase immersion and make Dead by Daylight even scarier. The update will greatly improve character models, textures, animations, lighting, and VFX. The game will also see more props being added to the maps and rooms will be assigned proper functions for easy identification.
According to Behavior Interactive, the team is currently working on this massive rework, which will be delivered in installments every six weeks. Dead by Daylight is also receiving a new update next week, adding common items like lockers, generators, palettes, and two new maps to the game.
Cross-Progression
In addition to the graphical overhaul, Behavior Interactive also announced that cross-progression will become available on Stadia, Switch and Steam via the new BHVR account. The Behavior account will allow players to easily carry their progression from one platform to another.
"The game you know and love is stepping into the future," Dead By Daylight Game Director Mathieu Côté said in a press release. "The team has been focused on this plan for an entire year and we’re so excited to bring you Dead by Daylight as you’ve never seen it before, while still offering new Chapters and Archives. This is ambitious, and we’re ready.”
