Publisher GungHo Online Entertainment and developer Supertrick Games have delayed Deathverse: Let It Die, the upcoming free-to-play multiplayer survival action title. The decision to delay from its original spring 2022 window was something the developers discussed in a new blog post, and in it, they also described some of the upcoming melee weapons in this gore-filled blood fest coming to PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4.
Shuji Ishikawa, producer of Supertrick Games, had this to say on the delay for Deathverse: Let It Die.
Our game was originally announced for Spring 2022, but due to the results from the open beta, the game’s release was postponed. Now, our team here at Supertrick Games is working hard to make this game the best it can be. We are also incorporating the feedback from the open beta survey, so we hope everyone will look forward to the game’s launch.
The beta Ishikawa refers to was an open beta held between May 28 and June 5 called Limited-Time Open Beta: Destroy the Server! It seems pretty safe to say that the feedback for the beta has been somewhat underwhelming, to say the least, and now Supertrick is looking to improve some stuff behind-the-scenes before its eventual release.
Deathverse: Let It Die is a spinoff of Let It Die, a free-to-play game on the PlayStation 4 and PC developed by Grasshopper Manufacture, led by Goichi “Suda51” Suda. Supertrick Games is an offshoot of that studio, and it will now solo develop Deathverse: Let It Die instead of Suda’s company. Unlike Let It Die, which mostly features an action RPG design that overwhelms players with very hard enemies, Deathverse: Let It Die pits players against themselves in a fight for stardom in a fictional reality TV show called the “Death Jamboree.” The reality show takes place in a virtual world called the Deathverse, created by the mysterious Yotsuyama Group as a destination for people’s souls.
Originally unveiled in the State of Play in October 2021, it’s not yet known if Deathverse: Let It Die will also be arriving on PC like its predecessor, or when the actual fall release date is.
