Destiny made its long-awaited retail debut this week, sending millions of fans scrambling to be some of the first to fully explore Bungie's new shared-world shooter, and we've got just the guide for anyone still scrambling to recover all the Dead Ghosts scattered throughout Destiny's five explorable worlds.
After spending a few days tearing through the Destiny campaign, we've rounded up information on where you can find each of the 20 Dead Ghosts spread throughout Earth and the Tower in Bungie's new shared-world shooter. Obviously, there's still another thirty that we need to write-up instructions for, but this should get you started down the path towards the "Ghost Hunter" trophy found in Destiny.
We've also embedded PS4Trophies' walkthrough video at the bottom of the page, for anyone who'd prefer having a visual aide instead of a written one. And, if there's anything that we missed in either location, feel free to let us know in the comments.
So, fire up your game console of choice, pull a laptop or other internet-capable device up next to you, and let our guide to Destiny's Dead Ghost locations guide you to yet another Achievement/Trophy for your Gamertag or PSN profile!
The Tower
· Dead Ghost #1: Head through the arched doorway near Xandar 99-40 (the Bounty vendor), and you should be able to spot a Dead Ghost resting on the railing. Unfortunately, this appears to be the only Dead Ghost that can only be accessed during certain hours. Specifically, it can only be recovered when the Iron Banner has been unlocked in Crucible mode.
· Dead Ghost #2: Take the stairs to the left of the player spawn point on the Tower up two floors and you'll see a stack of crates with a lamp on the ground next to them. The second Dead Ghost can clearly be seen sitting atop the boxes.
· Dead Ghost #3: The next Dead Ghost can be found near the Vanguard war room. Make your way down the stairs towards the three Guardian trainers, but stop and examine the workbench on the level just inside the doorway. The Dead Ghost should be visible on the front-right corner of the table.
· Dead Ghost #4: Perhaps the easiest to find, of the four Dead Ghosts in humanity's last city, the last recoverable sidekick in the Tower can be found in the Speaker's chamber. Once you're inside his room, look for the Dead Ghost resting on a footstool near the Speaker's bookcase.
Earth
· Dead Ghost #1: In the final room of A Guardian Rises, the tutorial mission in Destiny, mop up the Fallen waiting for you and then look around the left side of the room for a way to get below the catwalk. Once there, you'll find a Dead Ghost that most Destiny players probably didn't notice when entering the room.
· Dead Ghost #2: After exiting The Breach, head to the far end of The Divide and look for a hollow cylinder that's almost the size of the buildings situated near it. Step inside the cylinder, and you should see a Dead Ghost situated amongst the dirt and wreckage that cover the ground.
· Dead Ghost #3: The third Ghost is also located near the exit to The Breach. After stepping back out into the open, you should be able to spot a billboard situated between two buildings near the exit. Use nearby crates to jump up onto the buildings, and then hop down the billboard's scaffolding to claim the third Dead Ghost on Earth.
· Dead Ghost #4: Head back to the small, crashed ship that was shown during the Restoration mission. Once there, look around for a small shed sitting atop a nearby hill. Once inside, you'll find both a loot cache and another Dead Ghost for your collection.
· Dead Ghost #5: While traveling between the Steppes and the Mothyards, keep an eye out for the large canal used as a border (of sorts) for the two regions. Walk over to the nearby drainage pipe, and you should be able to spot a Dead Ghost among the flora that's grown around it.
· Dead Ghost #6: You'll need a Sparrow and/or double-jump before heading out to claim the sixth Dead Ghost hidden on Earth. Once you've got one of the two, look for a downed aircraft wing that forms a ramp directly into the blown-out second floor of a building on the Cosmodrome's perimeter. Take out the Fallen Captain waiting inside and then search the left wall for Ghost #6.
· Dead Ghost #7: Drop into the Mothyards and begin making your way down the road that takes you to the Forgotten Shores. Along the way, you'll spot a cave on your right-hand side and stepping inside will reveal both a Gold Chest and another Dead Ghost.
· Dead Ghost #8: Shortly after arriving on the Forgotten Shores, keep your eye out for a destroyed boat resting on the shore. Head inside and you should be able to find a Dead Ghost waiting for you in the vessel's main cabin.
· Dead Ghost #9: You may want to come back for this Ghost after finishing the Destiny campaign. Make your way back to the area where you had to scan the second signal in The Warmind, and head downstairs to the lower floor of the complex. Either avoid or destroy the high-level enemies waiting therein and you should be able to snag another Dead Ghost.
· Dead Ghost #10: Once you arrive at the Terrestrial Complex, make your way down the long hallway that's visible from the entrance and keep your eyes peeled for the complex's locker room. Inside, you'll find another Dead Ghost waiting in the only open locker in the room.
· Dead Ghost #11: Like Dead Ghost #9, the eleventh fallen sidekick on our list is being guarded by at least one high-level enemy. So coming back for this one after you've reached the level cap is definitely advised. Head to the Skywatch and search the area below the helipad for a hole in the wall. Step into the crevasse and you'll find yourself in a previously inaccessible room with a Hallowed Knight, a Dead Ghost and loot cache that's hidden in the ceiling.
· Dead Ghost #12: You'll need a full fireteam to grab this Dead Ghost, because it's located inside The Devil's Lair. Once inside the Rocketyard, hop up onto the house on your left and you'll find an easily-recoverable Dead Ghost waiting for you on the roof.
· Dead Ghost #13: At the end of the The Devil's Lair, during the battle against Sepiks Prime, head inside the door to the left of the boss and grab the Dead Ghost lying on a bench.
· Dead Ghost #14: On the Refinery mission, make your way inside the processing plant and look for a small room with the Russian Federal Bureau of Aeronautics (bka "Poga") logo above the door. The next Dead Ghost is waiting for you inside, resting on a shelf.
· Dead Ghost #15: Like two previous entries on the this list, the fifteenth Dead Ghost on Earth is guarded by a couple of level 20 enemies that can either be avoided, distracted or killed during your travels. Return to the Forgotten Shore and use your Sparrow to follow the coastline all the way to The Grottos. Continue following the coastline until you see a large pipe. The Dead Ghost can be found just left of it.
· Dead Ghost #16: In Patrol mode, return to the area where you were given your first rifle. Continue down the same hallway, keeping an eye on the left side of your screen, and look for a hole in the wall. Double-jump up to the opening and you'll find the last Dead Ghost on Earth.
