It’s been 20 years since the first Diablo was released and Blizzard is having a celebration spanning all of their games. We knew they were planning a tribute to the original game since Blizzcon, but now we know the rest of the tributes the guys in Orc suits have up their sleeves. There aren’t a lot of details released yet, but iDigitalTimes will have that information as soon as it’s available.
Here’s what’s coming to each Blizzard game to commemorate Diablo’s 20th anniversary.
Diablo III: Replay the original Diablo in glorious HD with the The Darkening of Tristram tribute event. There will be familiar items from the original games along with a few special guests. In order to traverse the reimagined Cathedral, you’ll have to move like in the original game, which means you won’t have 360 degrees of mobility.
Hearthstone: A Diablo -themed Tavern Brawl is coming to Blizzard’s card game. It’s called “Dark Wanderer Tavern Brawl” and will feature two unique heroes and a ton of new cards unique to the brawl. Dataminers have already found the brawl within the game’s code, so we know a bit about it. It will be released in January, reward a special “Secret Level Card Back” with moving fire and you’ll be fighting against the Cow King.
Overwatch: This is the one I’m most excited about; there will be new sprays featuring all of Diablo’s classes: barbarian, crusader, demon hunter, monk, witch doctor, wizard and maybe even necromancer. There will also be a player portrait featuring the Lord Of Terror.
Starcraft 2: Lord Of Terror worker portrait, yay?
Heroes Of The Storm: There will be a new brawl map called High Heavens featuring Diablo characters. There’s also going to be a new Diablo -themed player portrait.
World Of Warcraft: WOW is probably getting the biggest event of all, but we don’t know much about it yet. There will be new achievements and special items inspired by the dungeon crawler, like the Black Diabolic Tome and Stone Of Jordan. What these items will do and how they will drop is anyone’s guess.
