Diablo III just released the Necromancer DLC pack, allowing dungeon dwellers the ability to raise the dead and explode corpses. There isn’t much new content, besides for a few temples, bounties and challenge rifts. You can’t even enjoy those until you get a to level 70, which involves a ton of grinding. If you’ve played through Acts One through Five of Blizzard’s bloodiest game, chances are you don’t want to do it again just to level up a Necromancer. Here’s how I got my Necromancer to level 70 in just a few days.
If the Necromancer update is the first time you’re playing Diablo III, these techniques aren’t for you. Play through the story with the Necromancer (or whoever you want) and actually enjoy the game. For the rest of us that have grinded multiple level 70 toons with speced out Legendary armor and perfect sets, these are for you.
Nephalem Rifts- If you’ve played enough Diablo III , you’ve already played through plenty of these Rifts. These small but difficult dungeons allow you to rack up tons of XP as quickly as possible. Each dungeon should take you around 10 to 20 minutes in the early levels, and then pick up drastically after level 40. Play on Master or above if you think you can – that’s the best way to power level while snagging a few powerful Legendary items.
Finding which abilities suit your playstyle can come later – once you reach level 70, you want as much AOE as possible. The Nephalem Rift grind can get really boring, backtracking through multiple levels because you missed one mob and need three more minions to get the bar to 100 percent can destroy any speck of enjoyment. Corpse Explosion is your best friend. It’s like a chain reaction for a field of dead bodies. Bone Spikes and Skeletal Mages allow you to attack from the backlines, while your skeleton knights thwack any demon in your path. Rifts can get a bit tedious after awhile, so don’t burn out in your quest to be the best dead-rising badass.
Crown Socket- Gaining more experience faster is the power leveler’s motto and there are a few things you can do. Socket your crown with a Ruby as soon as possible, which grants you 15 to 30 percent more experience. If you happen to find a Leoric’s Crown in the Rift, that’s even better. Doubling or tripling your bonus allows you to grind even harder. If you haven’t picked up the Crown, use Kanai’s Cube to craft yourself a new one.
Wasting Time- You want to maximize your time when playing, which means you can’t do everything. If you’re one of those people that needs to break every box or tree stump in the Rift, this might not be for you. For the rest of us, try to focus on only picking up Rare and Legendary items since you want to avoid going back and having to sell all your random crap as much as possible.
Get A Friend- I didn’t do this myself, but that’s because my girlfriend is my Diablo duo buddy and she wanted to get her own bone giant. If you play with someone who already has a level 70 hero, you can easily piggyback experience off of them. Clearing mobs around the higher ranks of Torment is a breeze, as long as your weak Necromancer stays in the front of the map. You can get a maxed level bone daddy in a few hours with this technique, but it isn’t really fun.
