Dishonored 2 has a proper release date of Nov. 11, and thanks to Game Informer, we now know more about gameplay details. This news comes by way of user Nirolak on NeoGAF.
As for the big news, players will be able to play entirely through Dishonored 2 as either Corvo or Emily Kaldwin, the little girl from Dishonored. 15 years have passed since the events of the first game, and Corvo has trained Emily in the ways of being an Assassin to help her protect herself from any assassination attempts.
While it’s been confirmed players will start and end the game in Dunwall, the location of the original, a new location will serve as the main play area. Karnaca is inspired by Mediterranean European countries, and also was the birthplace of Corvo.
Emily will have a new set of powers that are different from Corvo’s. Some of these moves include Far Reach, Mesmerize and Domino. Far Reach sends out a grappling hook that Emily can use to pull her around. It can also be used as a weapon, with Emily swinging into enemies to take them out. Mesmerize will stun multiple guards temporarily, and Domino creates a repeat effect on four guards at once. For example, if you stun one guard, all four will get stunned using this new skill.
As for Corvo’s abilities, many are the same with a few modifications. The Bend Time ability, for example, can now be used to move time forward as well as slow it down. The Possession skill can also be chained between multiple enemies.
Outside of skills and abilities, both Emily and Corvo will have access to daggers, pistols, crossbows and more. These weapons have been redesigned since Dishonored, and also feature new upgrades to unlock.
The enemies have also been improved. Guards will now vault around objects or climb up ladders to get you. To balance out the lethal versus nonlethal options, more ways to interact with guards have been included. You can now do things like nonlethal aerial takedowns or using guards as shields. It’s also possible to put guards in beds to avoid suspicion while sneaking around.
Dishonored 2 will also offer customizable difficulty. Multiple sliders affecting different aspects of the game are included. One example given was a slider that affects how easily guards can see you while in cover. There will likely be combat difficulty sliders as well.
Like Dishonored, there will be multiple objectives and options for completing challenges. A morality system will be returning, but the developers are trying to make it less black and white. Dishonored 2 will also feature a quick save/reload system along with checkpoints, so players are free to experiment without much fear of repercussions.
Dishonored 2 will be released on Nov. 11 for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
