The latest Nintendo Direct held a plethora of exciting news and announcements for the Nintendo Switch, with classics getting ported for the console and new developments on upcoming releases.
There were some surprise announcements within the Direct that were made available immediately afterwards. One of these games is Larian Studios’ critically acclaimed Divinity: Original Sin II Definitive Edition, which is now available on the eShop for $49.99. The action RPG first released for the PC via Steam back in September of 2017, followed by a launch for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in August 2018 and Mac in January 2019. The announcement for Divinity: Original Sin II Definitive Edition for the Switch came with a trailer, which you can check out below.
The trailer not only revealed footage for the port of Divinity: Original Sin II Definitive Edition, it also showcased some very neat features for the game’s release on the platform. The most exciting of these is cross-saves between the PC version on Steam and the Nintendo Switch, which should make this version an attractive purchase to those who’ve already experienced Divinity: Original Sin II Definitive Edition for the PC and want to play it on the go.
In addition to the Switch release, Larian also announced the arrival of the second Gift Bag, a set of free DLCs including content for new and existing players across all platforms. Gift Bag 2 is called 'Song of Nature,' and includes a Crafter’s Kit, Endless Runner, Animal Empathy, Fort Joy Magic Mirror, eight Action Points and an Herb Garden.
Divinity: Original Sin II Definitive Edition is considered to be one of the greatest role-playing games of the modern era, and any fan of the genre who owns a Switch will do well not to miss this one. The game is now available on the Nintendo Switch.
