After more than a year, a new season is finally coming to The Division 2. Season 9: Hidden Alliance is coming as a free update to The Division 2: Warlords of New York. This is the first of three seasons planned to be released for this year.
Unlike the previous seasons, Hidden Alliance doesn’t require players to explore all the districts of Washington. Instead, the focus is on a smaller area to allow more contained and concentrated stories. This should also avoid the repetition experienced from season to season.
For Season 9, players are invited to try and take down a new enemy. It's not going to be easy since Captain Lewis is protected not by Rogues but by four high-ranking members of the True Sons. Read more about Captain Lewis here.
New Co-op Mode
The new co-op mode is Countdown, which brings together eight Division Agents. They must work as a team to restore the stability of a power plant infested with enemies and other hazards. The eight players will have to deploy in teams of four at separate locations. Everyone has to cooperate to finish a series of objectives, fight across heavy opposition, and extract before time runs out. So, how long? In just 15 minutes.
New Way to Upgrade
Season 9 is giving players a new way to upgrade items with Expertise. To build Expertise, players need to use any item in the game. The more they use that particular item, the more they become proficient in using it. Once they max their Proficiency Rank with an item type, they can upgrade the base stats. As players gain Proficiency with more items, they also increase their Expertise Level. This, in turn, allows them to increase their equipment to a higher Grade.
It's worth noting that Expertise Level and Proficiency Rank are account-wide, which means progress is carried over between the player's Agents. You can read more about this feature here.
Season 9: Hidden Alliance is coming out May 12.
