While we know the details about The Division ’s 1.5 patch, we’re now getting a trailer for the upcoming DLC expansion, called Survivor. No release date has been given for the DLC yet, but it is available to play right now on the Public Test Server if you play on PC.
As we can see in the trailer above, the new DLC is all about making it to the end of the night. New York is about to be hit by one of the worst snowstorms in recorded history, so you need to manage your body temperature, as well as how much food and water you have on hand.
The new Survival game mode will either be PvE or PvP. There can be up to 24 players on the LZ map at once and all players start off with only a pistol. Players can score points by completing tasks, and the more points earned, the more sealed caches are unlocked. There is also a 20 percent bonus to play PvP, but it’s more risky than PvE. Each sealed cache contains items that can then be used outside of Survival mode. Each game of Survival lasts until a player dies, then progress is reset and the mode restarts.
Player gear has “warmth” ratings now, and you’ll need to keep yourself warm, fed and make sure you have enough to drink. Crafting will play a large role in upgrading the gear you can use, and crafting benches can be found in hideouts scattered across the map. Speaking of the map, the mini-map is deactivated while playing Survival, but landmarks will still be around to help you navigate.
In case you want to check out the patch notes for the 1.5 update, all that information can be found over here.
Ubisoft has said the Survival DLC will be on the PTS until the developers are satisfied with everything. Once that happens, the DLC will be available on all consoles to those with the Season Pass.
