It was a match that many Dota 2 fans were looking forward to. On one side, you had a former TI champion that was trying to retake its position in North America. On the other, you had a reformed team that’s trying to make its mark. The Evil Geniuses versus Quincy Crew was a match that had high stakes.
EG had a good start taking the first game but Quincy would not only return the favor but close out the series at 2–1. That makes Quincy the sole defeated team in the region.
Fight for the Top Spot
In the first game, it seems that both teams were planning for a long game with EG choosing Alchemist and Quincy opting for Medusa. With Artour “Arteezy” Babaev on Alchemist, EG managed to hold off against Quincy. Helping Arteezy was a good showing from Abed “Abed” Yusop on Puck.
In the second game, Quincy managed to get the Alchemist for Yawar “YawaR” Hassan. While YawaR didn’t have the same strong performance as Arteezy had in the previous game, it really didn’t matter that much. Quinn "Quinn" Callahan on Tiny dominated the game leading Quincy to victory in just under 40 minutes.
With the series tied 1–1, many were expecting the series to be a close fight. That wouldn’t be the case as Quincy started strong and never wavered. The game ended with Quincy having 26 total team kills against EG’s four.
Upper Division
Even with Quincy’s win, it’s still too close to say who gets the top two spots. What’s confirmed so far is that 5ManMidas is going to the Lower Division next season.
For EG to get that coveted Playoff spot for the Singapore Major, it needs to win its remaining match while Quincy must lose the last two matches it plays. If Quincy, instead, wins its final two matches, then it gets the spot.
As we said, it’s still too close to call considering the current standings:
- Quincy Crew: 5 – 0
- Evil Geniuses: 5 – 1
- Undying: 4 – 1
- 4 Zoomers: 3 – 2
- SADBOYS: 2 – 3
- A-Team: 2 – 5
- Black N Yellow: 2 – 5
- 5ManMidas: 0 – 6
What about you? Who do you think are the two teams going to the Singapore Major?
