We’ve had some big roster news in the Dota 2 competitive scene recently, and this one could be the biggest of them all. That's because Tal “Fly” Aizik has left Evil Geniuses to join Talon Esports. What is even more surprising is that the team isn't in North America but in Southeast Asia.
While Talon is not new to the pro scene, this is going to be their first-ever Dota 2 team. The organization has teams in games like League of Legends, Arena of Valor, Rainbow Six Siege, and Overwatch. Joining Fly in this new team are:
- Kim “Gabbi” Villafuerte
- Last Team: TNC Predator
- Rafli Fathur “Mikoto” Rahman
- Last Team: BOOM Esports
- Damien “kpii” Chok
- Last Team: Team SMG
- Brizio Adi “Hyde” Putra Budiana
- Last Team: BOOM Esports
In a post, Talon CEO Sean Zhang shared that they have been planning to be part of the Dota 2 scene and now they can finally do it. He added that they managed to have a talented roster with the goal of winning majors and The International. Zhang went on to say that the team will be supported by content creators and social media staff so fans can join them in this journey.
The team members also shared their thoughts on this new team with Fly revealing that the region has always been special to him due to passionate fans and raw Dota power. While intense, he is looking forward to competing in a new team.
Gabbi, meanwhile, said that he is excited to be part of an organization like Talon. Mikoto said that this will be officially his first international team and hopes to do well for the new season.
With Fly on the helm, it’s going to be exciting to see how this new team fares against the competition. The arrival of Talon also makes SEA even more competitive. We’ll see how the other teams in the region react.
What about you? What did you think of Fly’s move?
