The new Dota 2 2019-2020 DPC Season only has two Majors left, and many teams are preparing to find the mix of team members needed in order to gain entry to the year's biggest event, The International. Teams that don't have enough DPC Points for an invite need to work through the qualifiers. Thus, having a team with the right skills and chemistry is important.
That said, over in the CIS region, Winstrike made the decision to disband its entire roster and sign a new one.
The decision is not that big of a surprise considering that last year the team faced a number of roster changes. In addition, the team was not able to qualify for The International 2019. Even worse, the team couldn’t make it to any of the three Majors of the current season. They also weren't able to make it to the corresponding Minor tournaments.
The organization made the decision not only to release the players, but also the coach and the manager. The roster released includes Nikita ‘Daxak’ Kuzmin, Maksim ‘mellojul’ Pnev, Vasilij ‘AfterLife’ Shishkin, Iliya ‘ALOHADANCE’ Korobkin, and Vladimir ‘RodjER’ Nikogosyan.
In a statement, Winstrike Sporting Director Andrei Kvasnevskii shared that there was "only one word to describe our recent performance – awful." While the team did make the decision to disband the entire roster, Kvasnevskij added that they were "not turning our backs on the activity of Dota 2 division, we will try a new approach to forming a line-up.”
Just a day later, Winstrike revealed that it had signed a new roster to replace the one that was disbanded. The new roster is now made up of players from Modus Unity. According to a statement, Winstrike said that they had supported Modus Unity through its young talents development program. During that time "the team has worked their way up from the pub players to the team which played in closed qualifiers."
With this, the new roster of Winstrike is now:
- Stanislav ‘чикиряу’ Yarosevich
- Nikita ‘Young G’ Bochko
- Vladislav ‘DKFogas’ Frolov
- Sergey ‘[T]SA’ Timchenko
- Dmitrii ‘kickeed’ Pilyayev
Luka ‘Lukawa’ Nasuashvili now serves as the team manager, while the organization's Dota 2 division is going to be handled by Sergey ‘AnahRoniX’ Bikovskiy. Kvasnevskii revealed that they have high hopes for the new roster and "are ready to give them more than one chance so that the guys will have time to prove themselves."
