Bandai Namco released a new trailer for the upcoming fighting game, Dragon Ball FighterZ , which teases an original story focusing on the Androids of the Dragon Ball world.
The story trailer focuses on a new villain, Android 21, whose character design and conception was supervised by Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama. This new character first appeared in the latest issue of V-Jump magazine in Japan, but this is the first time we get to see her “in action.” Check out the official story teaser trailer below.
Android 21’s origins are still a huge mystery within the Dragon Ball FighterZ story. Fans only know that her intellect is comparable to Dr. Gero’s, the creator of the Androids. Whether she was a creation of the doctor remains unknown, but it’s definitely a possibility, especially considering Android 16 seems to be working with her after being resurrected.
The story teaser itself gives a peek into what players will expect, including an army of zombie-like Z-Fighters (probably Androids) that are wrecking cities.
Quick cut scenes of Z-Fighters teaming up are shown. There’s a scene where Android 18 kneels next to her husband, Krillin who seems to have passed out.
Then there’s a sequence showing all of the strongest fighters of Earth unconscious or asleep before Goku passes out to end the trailer.
Whatever Android 21’s deal is, the threat she poses is very real. It’ll take all of the Z-Fighters to foil her plans. Here’s hoping that Android 21 is actually playable in this fighting game, and not just the brains behind the muscle.
There are 13 confirmed characters in Dragon Ball FighterZ so far: Goku, Vegeta, Gohan, Trunks, Tien, Yamcha, Krillin, Piccolo, Android 18, Android 16, Frieza, Cell and Majin Buu.
Dragon Ball FighterZ will release in early 2018.
