Drake finally released a taste of View From The 6. ‘Summer Sixteen’ was first debuted on his OVO Sound Radio, but now it's available on iTunes. Drake also announced View From The 6 will be finished in April.
View From The 6 is a follow-up to Nothing Was The Same and ‘Summer Sixteen’ has the same style lyricism and flow. It sounds similar to ‘The Language,’ but the production is clean and Drizzy’s experiences shows.
Drake’s flaunts his success like Kanye West, saying he’s ‘turned into Jay.’
“Oh it’s your time now” yeah, that’s what everybody say
I used to wanna be on Roc-A-Fella then I turned into Jay
Now I got a house in LA, Now I got a bigger pool than Ye
And look man, Ye’s pool is nice, mine's just big is what I’m saying
I’m that nigga’s what I’m saying”
Drake doesn't exactly diss Meek Mill, but he brings up the beef.
“I let the diss record drop, you was staying right below me, nigga
We must have played it a hundred times, you was going to bed
Why would I put on a vest I expect you to aim for the head?
I coulda killed you the first time
You don’t have to try to say it louder nigga
Trust, we heard you the first time
It’s nothing personal I would have done it to anyone.”
Meek Mill also released 4/4 Part 2 last night. He reportedly got ahold of the lyrics to ‘Summer Sixteen’ from Drake’s ghostwriter and released a diss track called ‘War Pain’ addressing specific points from Drake’s new track. Meek calls Drake a ‘fruitcake’ and checks the Toronto rapper for comparing himself to Jay Z . Meek definitely stepped up his game on this release compared to his last diss track, ‘I’m Da Plug.’ If it’s a battle of ‘Summer Sixteen’ vs. ‘War Pain,’ Meek wins.
Take a look at Meek’s diss:
“Don't make me make a real scene, uh
See an OVO chain, probably take that shit
Said dreamin' wasn't enough, we had to chase that shit
You ain't write it' nigga, we caught ya, can't erase that shit
And you claimin' you HOV now? Why you state that shit?
Man I hate that shit, niggas be talkin' out they face
But soon as you body somethin' they be singin' like they Drake
Wait, niggas dancin' like they fruitcakes
Hotline Bling, don't get no bing up in this new Wraith.”
If View From The 6 is like Nothing Was The Same where every single song is damn near perfect, ‘Summer Sixteen’ is just the beginning. If there’s another record like ‘From Time’ Feat. Jhene Aiko, Drake will own Summer ‘16. Don’t forget to check out Rihanna’s ‘ Work’ Feat. Drake from her Tidal-exclusive album, ANTI.
Drake announced View From The 6 will arrive in April on OVO Sound Radio, but did not give a specific release date.. “ I’ll give you a date later on, just know that we’re working. We’re working.”
