The most important information about Driveclub VR , the game’s release date and launch price, have finally been revealed by Sony Interactive Entertainment. And it looks like the first-person driving title is primed to be one of the top games in the PlayStation VR launch line-up.
We first heard about Driveclub VR back in July, when the game was accidentally announced on the Japanese PlayStation Blog . At the time, the project was only confirmed for Japan. But we’d eventually get confirmation of a Western launch shortly before gamescom , where Sony showed the game to Western fans for the first time. Now, we finally have more information on the VR version of Evolution’s driving simulator, including the Driveclub VR launch date and price.
According to Sony, Driveclub VR will debut alongside the PlayStation VR headset on Oct. 13 , with a launch price of $39.99. The latest version of the game will include 114 tracks , many of which will be temporarily exclusive to Driveclub VR , and a new “Cruise Control” mode that makes it easier to do a little sight-seeing while completing each course. There’s also a new “Virtual Passenger” mode that lets you ride shotgun while the computer recreates your best lap on a given track. Driveclub VR will also include 80 vehicles.
Driveclub VR will also be one of the 18 games included on the demo disc bundled with PlayStation VR. Those who already own the Driveclub Season Pass will receive a discount on the PSVR port. And those uninterested in Driveclub VR will be happy to know the new tracks developed for this version of the game will be released for the standard PS4 version, too.
Driveclub VR is in development exclusively for PlayStation VR. The game debuts Oct. 13.
