If you like the single-player portion of Battlefield games, we have some good news for you. Yesterday, EA announced via a press release that it has opened a new studio in Seattle, focused on single-player experiences.
Ridgeline Games – New Studio in Seattle
The newly formed studio is called Ridgeline Games, currently helmed by Halo co-creator Marcus Lehto. The firm consists of industry veterans from around the globe. The studio's focus is to develop “a narrative campaign set in the Battlefield universe.”
“It is a great honor to have the opportunity to collaborate with DICE and Ripple Effect and lead the charge on expanding the narrative, storytelling and character development opportunities in the Battlefield series,” said Lehto, Game Director and Head of Ridgeline Games.
What Does This Mean?
Not a lot of information about Ridgeline’s upcoming game is available. We know that it will be set in the Battlefield universe (whatever that means). However, it won’t be a part of Battlefield 2042. Is the game a single-player-only title or a single-player part of a bigger project with multiplayer? I guess time will tell.
I will be completely satisfied if the next game in the series contains a solid 15- to 20-hour long campaign, even without MP. However, a big portion of the community won’t feel the same way. After all, Battlefield is mostly popular for its bigger-than-life multiplayer experiences.
Also, we are talking about EA here. The company will want an MP aspect to maximize monetization from the title.
The Studio is Hiring
Ridgeline Games is currently in its infancy, so you won’t be playing its game anytime soon. The studio is currently in the hiring process and is still looking to fill multiple positions, including leadership roles. You can apply for the jobs over here if you think you are qualified.
