Electronic Arts claims that the new Battlefield game is a top-priority project and that it is one of its "most ambitious" projects in history.

The studio's CEO, Andrew Wilson, made his prepared remarks followed by the latest financial results that suggested an optimistic view on the next Battlefield project.

It was also emphasized that EA's investment in the team and the resources necessary were made to pursue the project.

Wilson's prepared remarks also noted that the studio has already "brought together the very best team" and provided them with optimal "resources and technology." Previously, EA confirmed that it has the "largest team ever" working on the newest game in the franchise.

In his remarks, the EA CEO also noted that the Battlefield series has surpassed more than 25 million players over the last year.

However, the studio did not provide further details regarding the exact nature of the newest game in the franchise, according to Insider Gaming.

EA also announced earlier this month that some legacy Battlefield games will be going offline, including Battlefield 3, Battlefield 4, and Battlefield: Hardline. Players will now lose the ability to buy those specific titles on some platforms.

Additionally, those particular games' online services will be permanently shut down on Nov. 7, 2024. On the other hand, players of Battlefield 2042 got a new Dead Space crossover event recently that is known as "Outbreak."

During the presentation of the studio's financial results, it was also suggested that executives believe the company has had a good year.

They argued that releases such as EA Sports College Football 25 and powerful live service performance "delivered Q1 results above expectations," said PCGamer.

They also shared their excitement for various other titles, such as Madden, EA Sports FC, and Dragon Age: The Veilguard. But the Battlefield series is the one to look out for as the franchise has experienced a somewhat rocky road in recent times.

Success of the Franchise

There was an entire studio dedicated to single-player Battlefield stuff that got laid off earlier this year. Wilson said that the Battlefield team is set to build a universe across connected multiplayer and single-player experiences.

While Battlefield 2042 was somewhat saved from too many negative reviews from critics, fans weren't as forgiving on Steam. The game's last season of content wrapped up in April 2024 and fan reaction ranged from indifference to feeling abandoned.

Wilson said in May 2022 that EA DICE was "rethinking the development process" from the ground up. And in August 2023, he promised investors that the studio had a "reimagination" of the shooter franchise planned, according to ReadWrite.
