In EVE Online’s latest update, the Industrial command ships Rorqual, Orca, and Porpoise now give nearby fleet-mates the ability to instantly compress their own harvested resources. This is thanks to a new range of compression modules featured in Patch 20.03.
Compression in EVE Online allows you to save some valuable storage space in your cargo bay by compressing certain resources. The new feature is available via Shipboard Compression Technology modules that allow all members in the mining fleet (you and any nearby fleet-mates over 200 kilometers) to compress resources while in space.
It is important to note that the new modules require an active Industrial Core module to operate. In addition to the new modules, there are three new associated skills:
- Shipboard Compression Technology: Required for Medium and Large compression modules.
- Capital Shipboard Compression Technology: Required for Capital compression modules.
- Fleet Compression Logistics: Increase range of compression modules by 10% per level.
You can read about the new technology here.
Aside from the new technology, some ships have received some balancing changes as well. The massive hauler ship Epithal now has a command center bay with a capacity capable of hauling a total of six command centers.
