Fallout 4's survival mode is getting a patch, even though it's still in beta Bethesda

Fallout 4 is getting a free survival mode in a future update, but the beta still needs tweaks. A recent update to Fallout 4 has brought a new mode along with all the fixes, even though we still don’t know when the mode will officially launch.

The survival mode will make playing Fallout 4 much more difficult. Players will have to pay attention to their food, water, and amount of sleep in addition to all the deathclaws and other hazards of the Commonwealth. The mode is still in beta, and only available for PC players.

Unfortunately, we still don’t know when the mode will leave beta, or when we will see a release for Xbox One and PS4. Like other updates, the full release will likely come to PC first, with a console release a few days to a week later.

The full patch notes for the update are as follows:

New Survival Features

  • Thirst, hunger, sleep and disease icons will change color based on status

Survival Fixes

  • Less food and drink are required to maintain proper sustenance

  • Carry capacity lowered

  • Sleep cycle has been lowered from 24 hours to 14 hour days

  • Reduced chances to getting a disease

  • Fusion cores weigh more

  • Nuka Cola Quantums no longer cancel out caffeine effect from Nuka Cola and Nuka Cola Cherry

  • Fixed occasional issue with becoming parched or peckish when thirst or hunger are actually satisfied

  • Fixed issue where Adrenaline effect would incorrectly persist after changing difficulty level

  • When companion is down, a quest target will appear on them

So what do you think? Are you excited to try out the survival mode with these changes? Are you going to wait until the mode is properly released? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
