Far Cry Primal’s skill system is easy to use, but you’ll still want to spend your points wisely. This skills guide will help you figure out the best way to grow your character in Far Cry Primal. The order you unlock these skills doesn’t matter. You can get through the first seven missions without a few basics, but skills start to matter once you get into the hard missions. What’s more important is by obtaining the below skills you set yourself up with a solid base for the rest of the game. Below are skills you should invest in early on in Far Cry Primal.
Far Cry Primal Skills Guide: Survival
Basically you’ll want to unlock the entire first row of Takkar’s survival skills. You’ll need the extra health bars and advanced healing techniques when facing more difficult enemies and prey.
- Primitive Takedowns- lets you do silent and cover kills
- Primitive Heal- lets you heal one bar per meat
- Extra Health II- gives you extra health bar
- Primitive Heal II- advances your healing
Gathering Skills
Gathering is important in Far Cry Primal. You’ll need resources to craft weapons, traps, and huts for your tribespeople. It’s also important to find the resources needed to upgrade your pack as you can only carry a limited amount early on. You’ll run through wood pretty quickly if you’re using your bow and throwing spears a lot.
- Show Plants- highlights different colored plants for food recipes on map
- Find Resources I- you’ll spot more resources
- Show Resources- highlights wood, slate, clay on map
- Skinning I & II- gives you more meat, fat, and hide per animal kill
Beast Master
Make sure you have unlocked the above Survival Skills before you start hunting larger animals like mammoths and sabertooth tigers. You’ll need the extra health and healing skills to defend yourself just in case the animal you want to tame catches your scent before you can lay down the bait. The first animal you tame is the Owl and it becomes the best weapon in your arsenal. You can use him to scope out any camps, and train him to kill your elite enemies. You’ll want to take advantage of taming an Owl right away.
- Owl Hunter Vision- allows you to highlight enemies/animals
- Owl Attack- perform a dive attack on most enemies and release caged animals
- Owl Cooldown I – reduces cooldown period between attacks from 80s to 65s
- Owl: Attack II- dive attack on elite enemies a.k.a. the gold horns that call for reinforcements in tougher campsites.
Fighting Skills
Karoosh the warrior has skills you’ll want for harder missions. However, there are only two skills you want early on.
- Death from Above- jump or fall onto an enemy below you to land a brutal kill
- Mammoth rider- THE BEST SKILL EVER! It allows you to approach a young mammoth (the small ones in the pack) and ride it. You can also use your weapons to ride the animal.
Crafting Skills
The only crafting skill I recommend early on is Food Boosts I. This doubles the affects of food recipes Sayla teaches you from 60s to 90s.
Hunting Skills
Jayma’s hunting skills are important, but there’s only two that you should definitely unlock right away. It’s the Craft Arrows I and II. They’ll increase the amount of arrows you can craft from wood. For example, instead of getting one arrow from one piece of wood, you’ll get 4 with Craft Arrows II.
