Final Fantasy XV is out this October, but until then, you can check out Final Fantasy Brave Exvius. The free-to-play mobile entry in the Final Fantasy series has 6.5 million players in Japan and is now available on both iOS and Android. Check out the trailer for Final Fantasy Brave Exvius below:
Square Enix has a few other mobile games up for offer, including a port of Final Fantasy IX and the nostalgia-driven Final Fantasy Record Keeper. But Brave Exvius plays more like a classic Final Fantasy series entry, with 2D graphics, turn-based battles and CG movies you see when you use Summon spells.
The game’s listing reveals the basic tenets of its story: knights, a young girl and crystals… what else did you expect?
“Harnessing the power of the crystals, mankind prospered, nations flourished. But just as day gives way to night, that era of peace proved but a fleeting illusion. Now, as their world stands on the precipice of ruin, two young knights summon visions to their side as they strike out on a journey to chase the shadows. So begins a new tale of crystals, and the heroes who would save them...”
Some of Brave Exvius’ features include:
New items and daily quests
High-definition graphic support for tablet devices
Achievements and Leaderboards
Game balance refinements based on the Japanese version
Facebook Login Integration
Two types of bundles for purchase:
“Early Bird Bundle” (a one-time purchase at $3.99) will be available for beginners who wish to grow their characters at a faster pace
Other bundles available regularly for purchase for players to obtain characters and items quicker
You can check out a guide for new players over on reddit here. Final Fantasy Brave Exvius does contain micro-transactions, but the stamina gating doesn’t kick in until Level 5, meaning you’ll make a little progress before you’re forced to stick a nickel in the slot to keep playing. You can also pre-register on the official site until July 17 to rack up some free goodies, including a summon of Terra from Final Fantasy VI.
Will you be giving Final Fantasy Brave Exvius a shot, or do you prefer to wait until Final Fantasy XV comes out on Sept. 30? Or are we doing both? We can do both. Let us know in the comments section below.
