The August update for Final Fantasy XI Online is officially live; it continues the story of the Voracious Resurgence with Chapter 9, Part 1. This new update introduces the new Sortie battle content as well as the Ambuscade enemy updates. It also launches the August Login Campaign.
The content and campaigns that arrived in this new update include:
- The Voracious Resurgence
- Chapter 9, Part 1 of the gripping storyline continues on the continent of Ulbuka as the claws of villainy have made their way to Adoulin.
- New Battle Content: Sortie
- Players can join Sortie solo or in a group of up to six players.
- The goal is to obtain upgrade materials for Empyrean gear
- Get Old Cases as well, which are appraisal items that change into job-specific gear upon use.
- New Foes in Ambuscade
- The Ambuscade battle update this month features Ramuh in Volume 1 and Morbols in Volume 2.
- Exemplar points can no longer be gained or lost in Ambuscade.
- August 2022 Login Campaign
- From August 10 at 11:00 a.m. to September 9 at 10:00 a.m. (EDT), players can receive various awards by logging in each day and collecting points that can be exchanged for in-game items.
New Musical Track
The new Sortie content brings with it a new musical track titled “Goddesspeed” which is from the popular Final Fantasy XI music ensemble Nanaa Mihgo’s. For those not familiar, it's a music group composed of violinist Machi Okabe, pianist Takuro Iga, and programmer Naoshi Mizuta.

Summer In-game Event
In addition to the update, players can join summer in-game events with the Sunbreeze Festival and Green Festival, both of which start on August 11. During these events, players can experience a vibrant summer festival after nightfall with lively music and amazing fireworks. Players can also get the new morbol apron and other event rewards.
Interview Series
The Final Fantasy XI Online team revealed that they've released the 11th installment of the WE DISCUSS VANA’DIEL interview series. This series explores the world of the game, as well as the game's development and history across the years. The latest four-part interview brings Final Fantasy XI Online’s Producer Akihiko Matsui with Ragnarok Online’s Yoshitada Iwata to discuss the 20th anniversary of both MMORPGs.
