The latest chapter in The Voracious Resurgence storyline is finally available with the newest update for Final Fantasy XI Online. Besides that, the September update also has in-game events that players can join to earn special rewards.
The new update introduces Chapter 5 Part 2 of The Voracious Resurgence. This has players learn more about the Olduum Staff and the mysteries behind it. Beware as well of the anomalies popping in the Aht Urhgan seas.

- New Ambuscade Content
- Fight against Cockatrices and Poroggos.
- Blazing Buffaloes Seasonal Event
- Duration: September 10 to September 21
- Details:
- Wild buffaloes will appear and prowl different areas in Vana’diel.
- Players who can round them up and bring them to nearby moogles get different rewards like:
- Buffalo Cap
- Drover’s Mantle
- Drover’s Belt equipment
- Day of the Shadow Lord
- Duration: September 10 to September 30
- Details:
- For finishing the Shadow Lord Battle battlefield, players have the chance to get the Shadow Lord's storied greatsword, Lament, and his swords, Nihility and Extinction.
- Equipment Boosting Campaign
- Duration: September 13 to September 30
- Details:
- A number of campaigns become available to help players on their journeys in Vana’diel.
- Adventurers can enjoy increased drop rates on seals and crests, additional item drops from certain enemies, and other different bonuses for the duration of the campaign.
- September Login Campaign
- Players receive various rewards by logging in daily and collecting points to exchange for prizes, which includes the Cancrine Apron.
Bug Fixes
This new update also comes with bug fixes which are:
- The setting value of "Number of simultaneous sound effects" in Final Fantasy XI Config is not reflected and is fixed at "12."
- In the game, emails that were not received before the end of the PlayOnline email service remain as new arrival icons.
- The graphic of the equipment "Extension" icon is incorrect.
