At last! A teaser trailer for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story will debut tomorrow, April 7, on Good Morning America. The new trailer will unveil footage of Star Wars: Rogue One for the first time ever. Take a look at the teaser-of-a-teaser courtesy of the official Star Wars YouTube account, below:
There’s not much footage to work with, but that’s the point – piqued interest will drive massive amounts of fans to Good Morning America and YouTube tomorrow morning. We do, however, get a sneak peak at a new type of villain known as “Shadow Troopers,” that resemble Stormtroopers, except these guys have badass helmets and pitch black uniforms. From just the 11 second clip we can tell that the Shadow Troopers cause havoc wherever they go. Destruction and burning flames linger in the background.
Star Wars fans were beginning to grow anxious about the arrival of a Rogue One trailer. With less than a year to go until the arrival of the first Star Wars spin-off film, general consensus was that at least one trailer should have arrived by now. The prayers of moviegoers have finally been answered, and anticipation is high as Star Wars: Rogue One will take the franchise in an entirely new direction.
For those unaware, Rogue One marks the debut of the first Star Wars “anthology” film – which will showcase stories outside of the Skywalker saga. Star Wars: Rogue One’s plot revolves around a group of Resistance fighters who band together on a daring mission to steal plans for the Empire's original Death Star. The film is set between the events of Episode III: Revenge of the Sith and Episode IV: A New Hope.
Are you excited yet? This writer certainly is! Rogue One: A Star Wars Story arrives in theaters on Dec. 16. Good Morning America airs at 7 a.m. ET on ABC.
