Five Nights At Freddy’s: The Freddy Files isn’t expected to release until later this month, but one lucky fan apparently got the book early . In true franchise fashion, the final page hides a special secret for fans: a previously unseen version of the Baby animatronic from Sister Location.
The leak in question can be seen under the heading “What’s next for FNaF.” The featured picture appears below this small blurb of text.
“There is at least one more novel in the series forthcoming, and there are sure to be more games. The only thing we can say for certain is that what’s next for Five Nights At Freddy’s is certain to fill your nightmares … Sweet dreams.”
It’s pretty clear that what’s seen here is some sort of teaser for a future entry to the series. It’s the basic Baby model as we know her, but she’s got a few notable changes: one of her hands has become a massive claw, she’s full of protruding wires and there appears to be some kind of tiara on her head. Other fans have noticed a flatter hairstyle as well, which might relate to the anniversary teasers we discussed last week.
Possibly more interesting than the new Baby animatronic, however, is what’s going on around her. She appears to be standing in some sort of alleyway that’s home to a freakshow. A sign behind her features a clown and says “freaks.” In the bottom left of the image is an object that looks like a trash bag.
While the image certainly exists, its relevance to the Five Nights At Freddy’s series remains unclear. Creator Scott Cawthon was teasing a new game in June, but he “canceled” the developing project a few weeks later. Is this a vestige of that dead concept? Is this a sign that some portions of the original idea are still alive? The teasers we did see mentioned Baby rebuilding herself to destroy her former Funtime friends, and that’s essentially what’s suggested here. Another tangential thought is that maybe this creation is tied to the books instead. It does look fairly similar to the Twisted Ones teasers from a few months back.
Whatever the case may be, as we inch closer to the Halloween months, it’s worth keeping an eye on this popular horror franchise. DLC for Five Nights At Freddy’s 4 and Sister Location was released in honor of the spooky holiday. Scott has always wanted to release a full game around that time, so maybe now he’ll finally get his chance.
As for The Freddy Files, it’s an upcoming book that focuses on recapping the series’ lore while providing some critical tips for completing the games. You can read a sample of its first few pages right here.
Five Nights At Freddy’s: The Freddy Files is expected to officially release Aug. 29 in paperback and digital format.
