Five Nights At Freddy’s: Sister Location is getting a free Custom Night update on Dec. 1, according to a new Scott Games teaser. The image itself doesn’t reveal much beyond the release date, but here’s what we know.
Prominently featured in this second teaser for the update, we see that Funtime Freddy is back in action, taking vengeance against Sister Location’s protagonist in the narrative’s Secret Room.
This tells us a few key details. Most importantly, there’s a suggestion that this update will focus on the traditional Five Nights At Freddy’s gameplay that was encouraged by the camera setup in that particular room. Unlike the Sister Location main game that brought a ton of new concepts to the table, it seems Custom Night will work much like it always has. Players can tweak difficulty values for each of the game’s animatronics, while trying to survive the night with super-fast reflexes.
The appearance of a fully-functional Funtime Freddy also implies that the content of the update will be non-canon to the established story. Without getting too spoilery, Freddy and his metallic pals don’t end Sister Location in their traditional forms and can’t really revert to them. That being said, this optional part of the experience will mostly leave those official plot threads behind. Of course, because we’re talking about a Five Nights At Freddy’s game, we wouldn’t put it past franchise developer Scott Cawthon to possibly feature a few lore clues after beating Custom Night’s hardest difficulty. In past games, the so-called secret endings have often been the most revealing.
The inclusion of Funtime Freddy jives with previous leaks discovered about a month ago. Vocal casting revealed that Ballora, Bidybab and the lovable bear all had new dialogue in the works. The initial Custom Night teaser also showed Bidybab and the Bonnie puppet in specific, so there are no big surprises there. Cawthon previously told his fans that the update would release in December, and it seems he’ll keep his word.
Five Nights At Freddy’s: Sister Location is available now on PC, with mobile versions expected eventually. To reiterate, the free Custom Night update should release on Dec. 1.
