Five Nights At Freddy's: The Twisted Ones is set to release later this month, but fans of the series recently discovered a 27-page sample of the novel is available on iBooks . While only the introduction, it offers some early spoilers for Charlie’s second big adventure. The full text can be read at the link above.
As far as narrative beats are concerned, we’ll summarize all the major findings. The first big development is that the sequel takes place just one year after the troublesome events of Five Nights At Freddy’s: The Silvery Eyes. Charlotte has moved away to college after a heated argument with her aunt. Just like her father Henry, Charlie has developed a love for robotics. She’s working on the basics of artificial intelligence in her classes.
In fact, she’s taken some of that passion home to her dorm as well. As part of a long-form project, she’s designed two basic animatronic twins with rudimentary speech and levels of understanding. Her friend Jessica is immediately put off by her creations after their toils at Freddy’s the year before, but she’s ultimately supportive of her companion. Elsewhere in the plot, Charlie has arranged to meet up with her love interest, John. The two haven’t seen each other much since the previous ordeal ended.
There’s not a whole lot to draw from with just 27 pages to read, but there are definitely a few early signs that should be given careful attention when thinking about what’s likely to come. To us, it’s very appropriate for Charlie to design a pair of robotic twins given that she lost her own twin brother to the murderous whims of William Afton in The Silver Eyes. However, just like her father’s animatronics, will these ones slowly turn on her? Might this duo be The Twisted Ones the title speaks of?
Within the larger Five Nights At Freddy’s game universe, we already have a few suspicions as to who this demonic pair may turn out to be. While there are known Funtime and regular variations of Freddy and Foxy, we’re inclined to think the twin ties are far more sinister. Is it possible The Twisted Ones might tell the origin story of Balloon Boy and JJ, the two dumb humanoid pests fans love to hate? That seems like a possibility to us, considering the two small robots are basically twin designs.
Also, as far as new characters are concerned, we’re introduced to a classmate named Arty who seems to have taken a rather special interest in Charlie. We’ve only just met, but we suspect a terrible fate for him as already overdue.
Five Nights At Freddy’s: The Twisted Ones is the sequel to 2015’s Five Nights At Freddy’s: The Silver Eyes. Charlie’s father Henry was the former owner of Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza, and his partner, William Afton, used the restaurant’s robots for murderous deeds. It’s the first of two Five Nights At Freddy’s books to release this summer. The other, The Freddy Files, appears to be a lore manual for the games.
Five Nights At Freddy’s: The Twisted Ones is listed for a June 27 release, but we wouldn’t be surprised if it arrived earlier based on its predecessor's unexpected arrival.
