Who are the villains on The Flash Season 3? “One of them is a speedster that we’ll reveal later and one is Dr. Alchemy,” Executive Producer Todd Helbing said at San Diego Comic-Con Saturday evening.
The reveal prompts an important question, which Flash will face off against Dr. Alchemy and the black-suited speedster we saw in set photos last week? Barry Allen’s Flash, Wally West’s Kid Flash, or both?
According to Variety, Barry still has his powers in the Flashpoint Timeline. It wasn’t just a coincidence Barry, Kid Flash, and the mysterious black flash were all standing together in the street during the final moments of the trailer. Then, The Reverse Flash screams at Barry, “Now who is the villain Flash?!?!”
“This is something that's going to ripple throughout the whole season," Helbing added.
It’s apparent Barry didn’t grow up in the West household in the Flashpoint timeline. Barry’s mother greets him at the door of their modest townhouse and John Wesley Shipp reprises his role as Barry’s father, Henry Allen. Everything is fine until Barry gets a painful flash in his head then the word ‘Alchemy’ appears scratched into a mirror.
"I think when we find him, he's still living in blind bliss and ignoring or unaware of changes that are out there. He still knows that the conversation with Iris on the porch at the end of Season 2 still happened. He thinks he'll be able to convince her to fall in love with him again.” Grant Gustin said. "When we find him, he's been living in this timeline for three months."
In the Flashpoint timeline, Cisco is just about the richest man alive. “Is there any better way to get to work then by helicopter,” Cisco says in the trailer. Joe on the other hand is “very unhappy” due to personal reasons according to ComicBook.com .
“He's having a particular episode with [Iris] and it doesn't seem solvable, so Joe gets quite depressed about it," Jesse L. Martin revealed.
Harry Potter’s Tom Felton was also present for The Flash Comic Con panel and spoke about his new character, Julian, a fellow Central City PD CSI who is suspicious Barry may be hiding something.
"The first two episodes that we're into so far, there's definitely some friction between Barry and Julian. He definitely treads on the toes of Barry's expertise and there's some feathers ruffled pretty early on.”
Doctor Alchemy, who will be voiced by Tobin Bell, is a familiar Flash villain. He uses the Philosopher's Stone to harness the power to manipulate elements. Stay tuned for updates on the mysterious black speedster, but considering how long it took for the ‘Man Behind The Iron Mask’ reveal we could be waiting all season.
The Flash returns to The CW Oct. 4 at 8 p.m.
