Fortnite released an update which brings new content and improvements to all modes. For Battle Royale, update version 11.20 will improve the gameplay experience. In Save the World, players get the chance to try something new with Dungeons and need to deal with the rampaging Mythic Storm King. Finally, for Creative there’s a new time objective along with a new device.
Fortnite: Battle Royale
For Battle Royale, update v11.20 brings back Daily Challenges that give XP when completed. There are a total of three Challenges available at a time. If you find one challenge to be rather difficult, don’t worry as you’re allowed to replace a challenge for another once a day.
Other improvements that arrived with the update are:
- In the Locker, you can now filter your items by the Season they were introduced in.
- To filter your items by Season, enter the Season name in the search bar. Use terms like “season 5,” “season x,” “chapter 2 season 1,” etc.
- You can now adjust the UI contrast.
- To adjust the UI contrast, use the User Interface Contrast setting in the Graphics section of the Video settings.
- Added a Tutorial playlist for the mobile version of Fortnite.
- Added Microsoft DirectX 12 support to the PC version of Fortnite.
- To use Microsoft DirectX 12, select it in the Advanced Graphics section of the Video settings.
- Adjusted the headshot multiplier of the Tactical Shotgun so it's now in line with the headshot multiplier of the Pump Shotgun.
- Increased the Effective Health (sum of Health + Shield) given from Slurp Tankers.

Fortnite: Save the World
In Save the World, Dungeons have been introduced with rumors going around that there is a forbidden area somewhere in Hexylvania. Some say there are new weapons to grab and even new heroes to recruit. No matter what it is, there’s no question that it’s time to do some exploring.
Along the way, players may meet the Swamp Knight, a mysterious hero with an Unearthly Treat perk that gives him an advantage versus the Mist Monsters. The Swamp Knight offers:
- Standard Perk: Unearthly Treat
- Increases Damage vs. Mist Monsters by up to 42% based on the percentage of missing health.
- Commander Perk: Unearthly Treat+
- Increases Damage vs. Mist Monsters by up to 42% based on the percentage of missing health. In addition, taking damage has a 45% chance to conjure a Phantasm (targets a nearby enemy, dealing 62 base Energy damage in a 0.5 tile radius, 1.5 second cooldown)
Aside from the Swamp Knight, there’s also a freshwater melee master that rises from the depths. Mermonster Ken is able to add massive damage to up-close combat. Details of this new character include:
- Standard Perk: From the Depths
- Increases Melee Damage by 44% based on the percentage of missing health.
- Commander Perk: From the Depths+
- Increases Melee Damage by 44% based on the percentage of missing health. Additionally, melee heavy attack eliminations have a 60% chance to conjure a Phantasm (targets a nearby enemy, dealing 62 base Energy damage in a 0.5 tile radius, 1.5 second cooldown)
Speaking of the Mythic Storm King, it seems that the King of Monsters has managed to get ahold of extreme power. It may be tough, but it’s time to bring the king down.

Fortnite: Creative
Finally we go to Creative, where a few new things are arriving:
- Timed Objective
- It’s a race against time as players fight a tug-of-war over a ticking clock.
- This new objective device opens up a whole host of possibilities for new game modes along with nail-biting gameplay.
- Map Indicator
- Players not only have the ability to make their mark but even give it a name.
- The Map Indicator device lets players place and name their very own Points of Interest or POI.
- Damage Amplifier (UDamage)
- In honor of Unreal Tournament’s 20th anniversary, Creative is adding the UDamage power-up from UT into Creative.
- Players are able to notice if another player has the UDamage equipped, though it may be too late by then.
