Developer Turn 10 is bringing its iconic Forza franchise to PC with a free-to-play game for Windows 10. That said, don't think for a second that the game is cheap just because it's free: According to the official Forza Motorsport blog, Forza Motorsport 6: Apex will show off "what the ForzaTech engine can do when unleashed by DirectX 12 at resolutions up to 4K."
Obviously, the free-to-play Apex will not a direct port of Xbox One's Forza 6. Instead, the game will be a "diet" version with 12 themed race events and 60 cars compared to the 21 circuits and 460+ vehicles in the console version. That said, Apex will feature the "Drivatar" functionality introduced in Forza 6, which trains learning A.I. to race you at a more competitive level.
According to a Microsoft rep speaking with IGN, "Drivatars will be 'seeded' from FM6 to Apex, then Drivatars will train over time in Apex as with all other current Forza titles." What's more, developers also mentioned that Apex is expected to get updates that spotlight cars and events.
Finally, Turn 10 hints a potential renaissance of PC-based driving games as future Forza titles will be simultaneously developed for Xbox One and PC.
Stay tuned as we expect to learn more about the Apex cars list in the weeks ahead. According to reports via GTPlanet, Apex is expected to arrive sometime in spring. Are you excited about the latest free-to-play Forza Motorsport 6: Apex title for PC? Let us know in the comment section below.
