According to Russian tech site Hi-Tech, a source within Samsung revealed the company is considering to end the Note brand once and for all. The exploding Note 7 fiasco has been a major toll on the Korean tech company. The source suggests the end of the Note could be a desperate attempt to avoid any further blows to its reputation.
Via Hi-Tech, a survey that includes South Korea revealed more than 50 percent of consumers now have a "negative attitude" towards the brand. However, Samsung is expected to only drop the Note name, and keep Galaxy, as a complete rebranding may be too costly. It is unclear whether Samsung will end its line of larger phablet smartphones or simply introduce a new model in the future under a different name.
Earlier this week, Samsung asked its global retailers to stop all Galaxy Note 7 sales after numerous reports of explosions occuring to its replacement models.
"Because consumers’ safety remains our top priority, Samsung will ask all carrier and retail partners globally to stop sales and exchanges of the Galaxy Note7 while the investigation is taking place," Samsung announced.
