It’s hard to stay patient for the biggest show on television, but that’s what Game of Thrones fans must do as Season 6 begins. While episode one, “The Red Woman," jumps quickly between characters and settings, it seemed as though nothing and a lot happened at the same time. Many images and scenes from Sunday’s episodes were previously shown in previews and trailers prior to the Season 6 premiere.
Many images and scenes from Sunday’s episodes were previously show in previews and trailers prior to the Season 6 premiere. However, there are plenty of images and trailer screencaps that reminds us there's a lot left to cover. Those images can also provide us clues to the future of Jon Snow and Arya.
Does Jon Snow Get Brought Back To Life? Is Jon Snow Really Dead?
The certainty of Snow’s fate is anything but after one episode into Season 6. We saw Snow’s lifeless body in the snow and then defended by Davos and his loyal Crows. While many expected Melisandre to bring Snow back to life in the season premiere, we ended up with only more questions about the Red Priestess than answers.
While Snow is still “dead,” hope is not lost on your favorite character. A handful of Season 6 preview images published by HBO reveals Davos and Melisandre both survive the apparent fight with Ser Alliser Thorne and the men of the Night's Watch. The first image shows Davos standing outside in what appears to be daylight with some type of smoke lingering in front of him. While this doesn't reveal much, it means a) he at least lives through the night during the sequence we saw Sunday night and b) he's watching something burn, which could make some Jon Snow/Targaryen rumors swirl.
In the preview for episode 2, “Home,” it appears that Tormund sees Snow’s dead body. “I thought he was the man to lead us through the long night,” Tormund is heard saying in the Game of Thrones preview “but I was wrong.”
A second image from what appears to be Castle Black shows Melisandre on horseback headed somewhere. This again means a) she survives the fight and b) she doesn't stay in old woman form for long. This also gives more probability to the Jon Snow resurrection theories.
Is Arya Permanently Blind? Will She Get Her Eyesight Back?
At the end of Season 5, Arya lost her eyesight after she did not follow the orders of Jaqen H’ghar and instead killed Ser Meryn Trant in revenge. Following this incident, Arya was blinded as punishment (this is different from the books where she goes blind for training).
But is Arya's blindness permanent? Well, if we had to make an educated guess, then the answer would be a solid "no" for two key reasons. In the preview for Season 6 episode 2, we hear Jaqen say, “A girl has been given a second chance.” The scene cuts to Jaqen H’ghar cutting someone’s face off in the House of Black and White. “There will not be a third,” he concludes.
It make sense for Arya to get her eyesight back, as she does in the books, but we’re a little surprised it’s potentially happening in “Home.” Another key indicator that Arya gets her sight back is a still from the Game of Thrones trailer #2. The image, which you can see below, clearly has Arya’s eyes back to "normal."
