German newspaper Bild reports Angela Lansbury will join the cast of Game of Thrones Season 7, in a small role in two episodes. But who might the legendary Brit play?
The U.K.’s Independent claims Lansbury, who is way closer to an EGOT than you’ll ever be, is currently filming “a minor cameo role that will feature across two of the season’s seven episodes. She will be on set for just four days.”
Lansbury is widely known for her roles in Murder, She Wrote, The Picture of Dorian Gray and Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, along with dozens of other productions for film and stage.
Lansbury is less widely known for her 1988 fitness video, Positive Moves, which involves a lot of stretches that can be done with grace and elegance in a sorbet-hued pantsuit. The video also stresses the importance of a restorative bubble bath. Treat yo’ self!
While it’s unclear what role Lansbury could play in Game of Thrones Season 7, the obvious hypothesis would be some sort of imposing matriarch or other fancy lady in King’s Landing. Or maybe, just maybe, the showrunners will take a page from Positive Moves and incorporate more of a “golden age chill” vibe to her character. Will she go for a low-impact countryside cycle with Daenerys, or do some gentle spinal twists with Jon Snow? The possibilities really are endless.
Lansbury is the second British actor to join the Game of Thrones Season 7 cast recently, with Jim Broadbent also reportedly shooting scenes for the HBO series.
Season 7 of Game of Thrones has begun filming in Iceland, with Spain and Northern Ireland locked in as additional shooting locations. The series will return in summer 2017.
