At the end of the newest episode of Game of Thrones season 6, Daenerys broke out of the rut she’s been in ever since she took over Meereen. In a clearly pivotal scene in what’s already clearly a pivotal season, Daenerys used her power of fire to kill the Dothraki khals and seize control of what will likely be the united Dothraki horde. This move was expected and it’s one of the last steps that will lead to Daenerys’ invasion of Westeros. And that invasion can only bring destruction and ruin—fire and blood.
Daenerys Will Come To Westeros With Fire And Blood
With not just one Dothraki khalasar but the full Dothraki horde now at her command, Daenerys has taken control of the single most powerful military force in the known world. She already controls another incredibly powerful force, the Unsullied, and the still-not-fully-tested power of her dragons. Once she returns to Meereen, secures a new fleet and forces the Dothraki to come to an accord with the other factions she controls, she’s ready to launch her invasion of Westeros. It’s truly not far away now.
But Daenerys is not coming to Westeros as a liberator—nor as a savior, although she may become one. She will return to Westeros as a conqueror, and the Dothraki will be the bulk of her army. Did you hear the speech she gave to the khals, reminding them of their wish to tear down the great keeps of Westeros? That’s exactly what the Dothraki will do, even if Daenerys can rein in their worst impulses. They are a barbarian horde; they thrive on slaving, plunder, and rapine. That is their nature, and Daenerys knows it.
Daenerys has a very strong claim to the Iron Throne. She will likely win it by conquest—Lannister control isn’t exactly secure. But bringing a Dothraki horde to Westeros is not an action that should be taken lightly. The Unsullied are disciplined. They’ll kill who Daenerys says to kill, and then stop. The Dothraki won’t stop. They’ll sack everything south of the Neck, and if they can get to the North, they’ll sack that too. And nobody can stop them—Drogo’s old khalasar alone had 40,000 riders, and the full Dothraki horde will be far larger. The largest army of Westeros is the Tyrell army, about a hundred thousand strong. And all the armies of Westeros are weakened after years of fighting—and barely capable of fighting the Dothraki anyway.
It’s going to be a bloodbath. The Dothraki will bring unimaginable destruction to Westeros, and not even Daenerys can stop them. She will bathe the land in fire and blood.
