The turn-based real-time strategy game Port Royale 4 has been announced during the Gamescom 2019 Opening Night Live Show. Published by Kalypso Media and developed by Gaming Minds Studios, Port Royale 4 will launch for multiple platforms in 2020.
Set in the 17th Century, Port Royale 4 gives players control of a colony as a young and ambitious governor who is eager to learn what it takes to manage and grow a humble settlement to an impressive trader city. Players will go head to head with the colonial powers of Spain, England, France, and the Netherlands to fight for supremacy in the Caribbean.
Gameplay revolves around settling on multiple islands, developing production chains to connect the islands, and creating complex trade across the Caribbean. Earning more for your nation means growing your fame and unlocking town buildings, ships, and more. You can conquer cities of rival nations either through violent or diplomatic means, but you should also keep an eye out for other threats in the form of pirates and privateers.
Port Royale 4 will offer four extensive single player campaigns, one for each nation. Your campaigns will involve 60 Caribbean cities all rendered in 3D. This requires planning for building your settlements and optimizing your trade routes. Lastly, 18 historically authentic ships will be present in the game, which can either be used for trade or combat in tactical turn-based naval battles.
Port Royale 4 will launch the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC in 2020.
Be sure to stick around for more news on the latest happenings from Gamescom all throughout the week.
