Scarlett Johansson's casting for the role of Major in the anticipated Ghost in the Shell live action movie was disapproved by many fans of the 1995 anime movie at first, but many doubters and naysayers changed their mind after seeing the incredible teasers and trailers. Director Rupert Sanders managed to recreate a world that really channels the cyberpunk visual style that defined the anime.
The dense architecture and bright neon lights brings the city life, yet the creepy robot geisha exhibits how robots and cybernetic enhancements caused society to be more removed from humanity than ever before.
Offering a closer look to the world created for Ghost in the Shell is a picture book called The Art of Ghost in the Shell, written by David S. Cohen with a foreword from WETA Workshop's Richard Taylor. The book shares beautiful concept art and shots of the film's character, set locations, props and more.
