Ghost of Tsushima is another Sony game that is soon crossing the 10 million-copy mark. The developer announced via Twitter that the open-world samurai game has sold more than 9.73 million copies as of July 3.
The full purchases of Standard and Director’s Cut are counted in the sales figure, so if you upgrade your game to Director’s Cut, it won’t count as two. It will be counted as one as it’s not a full game purchase.
Other Facts
That’s not all since the developer also revealed tons of cool facts about the game. A total of 78 million photos were taken via Photo Mode. Players have also petted 75.18 million foxes. A total of 540.8 million duels and 998.5 million standoffs took place.
Onsen was visited 94.76 million times, and players spent 6437.4 years on horseback. A total of 91.4 million legend mode missions were played as well. These figures will just increase over time.
An Impressive Number
The 9.73 million copies sold in only two years is quite impressive for Ghost of Tsushima; the game is a new IP by Sony, not an established one or a sequel. It took two years for The Last of Us Part 2 to cross that 10 million mark and was one of the most highly anticipated titles of 2020 and a sequel to a critically acclaimed title. A sequel of GOT hasn’t been confirmed by Sony, but it would be foolish not to capitalize on that.
About the Game
Ghost of Tsushima was first released on PS4 in July 2020. The game later received a proper PS5 port titled Director’s Cut in August 2021. The new edition brought many improvements to the base game along with a single-player story expansion, Iki Island, which takes place after the events of the base game.
Possible PC Port
Sony hasn’t confirmed if Ghost of Tsushima will ever get a PC port or not. However, the game was mentioned in last year’s Nvidia GeForce leak. So, we are hopeful as many other PS-exclusive are already confirmed heading to PC.
