Let’s be completely honest here. We’re not the only ones who completely forgot Activision and FireForge Games were working on a new Ghostbusters game, right?
Thankfully, there’s a new trailer out for the latest digital addition to the Ghostbusters franchise. It’d be nice if the clip contained more than one minute of gameplay footage -- a marker the current trailer doesn’t quite reach -- but anything is probably better than nothing if you’d forgotten there was another game in development. At least now Ghostbusters’ existence won’t come as a complete surprise the next time you’re browsing PSN, Steam or Xbox Live.
The new game is technically a tie-in for the Paul Feig Ghostbusters reboot that heads to theaters later this week; however, the game doesn’t star the four actresses chosen to inherit the franchise’s iconic proton packs. Instead, Ghostbusters stars four new heroes, created specifically for the game, and picks up shortly after the events of the film. The game includes local co-op support, allowing two to four players to complete the Ghostbusters campaign together, and includes many familiar specters from the movie that inspired it.
Early reviews haven’t exactly been kind to Ghostbusters. Granted, only a handful of opinions have been published, even when you include those who’ve published reviews on Amazon, Steam and other digital storefronts. So you might want to track down some extra gameplay footage if you’re thinking about buying Ghostbusters after seeing the launch trailer.
