While few details are known about the new God of War, it is confirmed Kratos will appear in more games than this reboot, according to Spanish gaming site LevelUp.

When speaking with the director of God of War, Cory Barlog, it slipped that Kratos is planned for more than one game. LevelUp didn’t provide any specific quotes to back this claim, but it makes sense that Sony will not be setting one of its most famous mascots up for one game.

LevelUp also confirmed players will be controlling Kratos through the entirety of God of War, so don’t worry that you’ll be forced to play as his son. Speaking of the son, he is capable in combat, so players will not have to be forced to stop fighting to go rescue him again and again. Players will be able to give the son orders though, like telling him to attack a specific enemy or activate a switch.

As for the change in location, mythology and everything else coming to the God of War franchise, Barlog said it will all tie together. Kratos is aware of his past and everything that has come before, but his son is not. The change to Norse mythology was to keep the series fresh, but still be connected to something players are somewhat familiar with.

LevelUp and GameTransfers are also reporting that multiplayer has been excluded from the new God of War. This will allow developer Sony Santa Monica more time to focus on the story and single-player aspect to the game.

So what do you think? Are you excited to see what happened to make Kratos come so far north and start a new family? Are you sad to find out there will be no multiplayer? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
