Polyphony is slated to release its highly anticipated Gran Turismo Sport for PlayStation 4 on Nov. 15. With only a couple of months left until launch, the game studio released a new 18-minute video ahead of Gamescom. The short movie, called "Made From Reality," shares a glimpse of the lengths Kazunori Yamauchi had taken to create the first Gran Turismo title for the PS4 console.
The "Made From Reality" video follows Yamauchi's and his stint behind the wheel of the Walkenhorst BMW M6 GT3 at the 24 Hours of Nürburgring. The Walkenhorst M6 GT3 is not all that different from the rest of the FIA GT3-spec racing cars, except for all the extra sensors installed for Gran Turismo Sport.
"Of all the cars here at the Nürburgring, I think our car has the most number of sensors built into it," said Yamauchi. "And while these are recorded on a data logger, they are also sent by a wireless telemetry system so that it can be received in real time in the pit, and can be analyzed on the spot. The data is then fed into the Gran Turismo simulation, like in the simulator we have here, as is, to make sure that the real car's movements on the trackand the movements of the cars in Gran Turismo match properly."
"Made From Reality" also shines a spotlight on Nürburgring's unique culture and passion for cars. The excitement from motorsport fans as well as the unbelievable history that the ring possesses makes it a unique place for Yamauchi to feel the emotions that Gran Turismo Sport should evoke.
Finally, the 24-hour endurance race also offers a treacherous taste of weather changes and setting off fireworks off the track. We don't know how much environmental elements Gran Turismo Sport will deliver, but it would be breathtaking to see the magnificent Nürburgring come alive at night.
