The Lunar New Year is still a few days away. However, in Guild Wars 2, the celebration of this yearly festival is now live. There are fireworks, games, delicious Canthan food, and of course, prizes. This Year of the Rabbit festival runs until January 31.
What makes this festival even sweeter is that it's accessible to all players, regardless of their level. Even those new to the game can join in different activities and obtain new cosmetic unlocks and utility items, to name a few.
Rewards
Before we look into the different activities, let's take a quick peek at the rewards. For this year's Lunar New Year activities, players are rewarded with Essences of Luck. These are items which can be used as currency at Lunar New Year festival vendors at the Crown Pavilion in Divinity's Reach. Players can also consume it to permanently increase their magic find attribute.
Players can also earn other currencies like the Token of the Celestial Champion from the Celestial Challenge, exchangeable for Lucky Envelopes. These are containers that are affected by the player’s magic find attribute. So, to get better rewards when opening these envelopes, they should increase their magic find.
Activities
These Lunar New Year festivities are found at the Crown Pavilion in Divinity's Reach:
- Celestial Challenge
- Speak to the Celestial Challenge Attendant at the Crown Pavilion in Divinity's Reach to start the Celestial Challenge.
- This is a series of activities that needs players to:
- Take down enemies.
- Race through checkpoints.
- Perform feats of jumping mastery.
- The more activities successfully completed during the event, the greater the rewards at the end.
- Dragon Ball Arena
- Speak to Finola at the Crown Pavilion in Divinity's Reach to enter the Dragon Ball Arena.
- This is a dodgeball-like PvP game mode which is a race to the finish.
- The first team of five players to reach 500 points wins.
- Collect power-ups throughout the arena to gain access to new skills, zip around the arena with zip pads and jump pads, and master the art of the Dragon Sphere.
- Mount Racing
- Race around Divinity's Reach.
- There's no need for unlocked mounts to join this race.
- A nearby rental service is available for players to rent a raptor at 10 Silver.
- Firecracker Lighting
- Speak to the firecracker-lighting NPC at the Crown Pavilion in Divinity's Reach to start this seasonal adventure.
- Use mastery of the world to quickly navigate through the streets of Divinity's Reach and light all the firecrackers.
- While anything goes here, just remember not to use any waypoints since those who do have their progress reset.
Guild Wars 2 is a free-to-play MMORPG first released on PC in August 2012. In August 2022, it was made available on Steam as part of the game's 10th year anniversary celebration.
