The developers at CD Projekt RED are preparing to release Crimson Curse, the first expansion for their popular card-based strategy game Gwent. Crimson Curse adds over 100 new cards to the game, as well as some interesting new mechanics such as Berserk and Deathblow.
Crimson Curse is based off the characters and plot of Blood and Wine, an expansion to CD Projekt RED’s award-winning title The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. The expansion is themed mostly around revenge and vampirism, so players can expect several implementations of new Bleeding and Poison effects, vitality boosts, and a lot of undead. Here’s the official Crimson Curse trailer so you can see for yourself:
So far, the folks over at CD Projekt RED have only released a handful of new cards and abilities. Check out the reveal page over on the Gwent website and have a look at the effects on Disgraced Brawler, Samum, and Dryad ranger to see a taste of the new mechanics.
Gwent is a free-to-play collectible card game based off of CD Projekt RED’s The Witcher series of games. Crimson Curse is set to launch on March 28, and adds vampirism into the mix. The expansion introduces Dettlaff van der Eretein, a character in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt’s Blood and Wine expansion, with all new cards and mechanics.
Gwent has amassed quite a following since its launch in October of last year, but it still has quite a ways to go before it can rival the current king of the genre, Hearthstone. This expansion pack may be a big step forward for the title, and its community is excited to see all the new content in store for them.
We don’t know everything about the Crimson Curse expansion just yet, but we’re expecting more information before the expansion drops on March 28.
