Developer 343 Industries recently announced that the Halo: The Master Chief Collection will receive a few new features. One of the most interesting features that was announced is the addition of a custom game browser. The custom game browser will allow players to join servers that are hosting different game modes. Halo players can finally find a group for the infected game mode.
The developers haven’t confirmed a launch date for the custom game browser yet, as it is still a work in progress. That said, 343 Industries did estimate that the feature will come out around the launch of Halo 4 on PC, or later this year. The custom game browser will help players find matches with ease. Players just have to select a lobby and join it, unlike now where it places people into a queue which can take ages to find matches.
The custom game browser will include options such as quickmatch, browse, filter, and create:
The quick match option will take players directly into a random lobby.
The browse option will allow players to search through multiple lobbies in the menu according to the player’s preference.
The filter option will help sort the lobbies based on game type, so players can find lobbies that are only related to the modes they selected.
The create option allows players to make their own custom games and host the games for other Halo players.
Another exciting feature to watch out is for the official support for mouse and keyboard for Xbox. This will help players keep the competitive level fair between PC and Xbox players when crossplay is introduced.
Players who are interested in using any of these new features can keep an eye out for the Halo Insider program to learn more information. The Insider program helps the developers test out new features and fix them before they are sent into the live build. Also, make sure you keep your profile updated so the developers know you are an active player looking to help out.
Halo: The Master Chief Collection is available to purchase on Xbox One and PC.
So, what are your thoughts on Halo’s custom game browser? Are you excited about the new addition? Personally, I think it’s a good idea, as players will be able to get into matches as soon as they boot up the game. Whatever your thoughts may be, let us know in the comments below.
