Niantic confirmed that the beta of its latest offering, Harry Potter: Wizards Unite, is now live in Australia and New Zealand.
All witches and wizards in these two regions can now participate and test the game. Players are also asked to provide feedback in order to improve the game experience. Those who still have not downloaded the game can go to Google Play or the iOS App Store.
Players outside the two regions mentioned can sign up at WizardsUnite.com in order to get future updates. Pre-registration is now available for Google Play. For iPhone users, however, they need to wait for further announcements.
Niantic reminds players that this is a beta version and the features, design, available languages, and even overall appearance, remain subject to change. Niantic warns players that the game “might be buggy and unstable at times.”
The development company has been upping the stakes in terms of marketing its newest augmented reality role-playing location-based game. Back in March of this year, none other than Warner Bros. confirmed that the game is scheduled for a summer release.
The game was available for pre-registration on Google Play as early as March. While the game can be seen in the Apple Store, it had no button for pre-registration.
To increase the excitement, Niantic announced that Ingress Agents and Pokemon GO Trainers are now able to reserve their usernames for the Harry Potter: Wizards Unite game.
Even before the actual release of the game, Niantic has been posting teasers and even revealing a little of what the gameplay looks like.
In Harry Potter: Wizards Unite, players are tasked to helped the wizarding world by going around the real world and dealing with magical anomalies known as “The Calamity.” The main goal is to prevent muggles from learning about magic. The game has players start as new recruits of the Statute of Secrecy Task Force, an agency established by the Ministry of Magic with the International Confederation of Wizards. Niantic has also revealed that players can expect to meet many of the iconic characters like Harry Potter, Ronald Weasley, and Hermione Granger.
