Harry Potter: Wizards Unite released its latest Calamity Brilliant Event. This is the second time-limited event after Fantastic Flora and Fauna. This new event is divided into two weeks, with each week offering players different tasks and Registry pages to complete.
The first week runs from July 16 to July 23, with the second week scheduled from July 30 to August 6. Players get the chance to earn, among other rewards, Gold, Restricted Section Books, and even new Ministry Portrait Lenses.
In addition to the new event, Harry Potter: Wizards Unite is also holding its first ever Community Day on July 20. During this day, players get access to:
- A Free Store Pack with 50 Spell Energy and 1 Barrufio’s Brain Elixir
- 3X XP when you use Barrufio’s Brain Elixir
- An increase of Traces on the Map, with a higher chance of seeing Hogwarts School Traces
- Dark Detectors will last double the length of time when placed in Inns
Other features that players can look forward to are related to Ministry ID Portraits. That is, they need to keep their eyes out for the special Portrait Lenses.
One good piece of news is that Niantic also announced that they are temporarily removing the “Visit 2 Countries” Achievement as they are currently fixing an issue where this Achievement is not tracked even if a player visited a different country.
In the previous event, which was dubbed Brilliant Event: Fantastic Flora and Fauna, players were introduced to Brilliant Foundables, Runestones, and Event Tasks. In this event, six new Foundables were introduced:
- Young Acromantula
- Buckbeak
- Salamander
- Scorched Tree Stump
- Snargaluff
- Unicorn
Considering the focus of this previous event, there was a Hagrid-centric story included which was triggered with each Brilliant Encounter.
Harry Potter: Wizards Unite is Niantic's latest addition to the augmented reality and location-based game genre. Developed in partnership with WB Games, a beta version was released in the New Zealand and Australia regions. The game was officially launched worldwide last month June.
Aside from the two limited-time events that have been released, Harry Potter: Wizards Unite has also launched a number of features and events outside the game. One of these is the Community Page, where players can discuss the game online. The Community Page does not allow discussion of the actual Harry Potter franchise, so topics are limited to the game. Niantic is also preparing for the game’s first Fan Festival. This is set for August 31 to September 1 at the White River State Park in Indianapolis.
