The Diablo Hearthstone Brawl players have been clamoring for is finally out. Called “The Dark Wanderer,” it’s different than any other Brawl Blizzard has put into their card game. You design a deck and face off against a hooded foe who uses imps and all sorts of Warlock tricks to beat you into submission.
The Dark Wanderer’s hero power summons a random imp for two mana, which means Flame Imp, Malcheezar’s Imp, Imp Gang Boss, Imp Master and Blood Imp . Avoid the Implosions and Power Overwhelmings and beating this is as easy as taking candy from a necromancer. I used my Secret Paladin deck to beat him in a few turns. If you are struggling to find something, here’s a great resource of deck lists created by the community.
Defeat him before he takes you out and you’ll earn a special Diablo -themed card back, complete with fire effects that swivel in your hand. Defeating minions can leave a piece of “loot” on the board. They all are 0/4 minions which give the turn player a buff, ranging from extra Coins to armor. Here’s the full list (via Hearthpwn):
Weapon Rack - Deathrattle: Current turn player gains a random weapon.
Discarded Armor - Deathrattle: Current turn player gains 5 armor.
Chest of Gold! - Deathrattle: Current turn player gains gold! (This gives you 2 coins)
At the beginning of the game, The Dark Wanderer drops three secrets on the board. All secret-destroying cards like Eater Of Secrets are banned for this Brawl.
Three of these secrets will be played by The Dark Wanderer (via Hearthpwn):
Visions of the Amazon - Secret: When your opponent summons a minion with Battlecry, Summon a Mirror Image for both players.
Visions of the Assassin - Secret: When your opponent summons a minion with Stealth, All minions equip a dagger.
Visions of the Barbarian - Secret: When your opponent summons a minion with Charge, THUNDER FURY!
Visions of the Crusader - Secret: When your opponent summons a minion with Taunt, change all minions' attacks to 1.
Visions of the Necromancer - Secret: When your opponent summons a minion with Deathrattle, destroy it.
Visions of the Sorcerer - Secret: When your opponent summons a minion with Spell Damage, Summon 2 Guardians.
Visions of Fate - Secret: When your opponent takes lethal damage... save him.
Visions of Hate - Secret: When both heroes have 15 or less Health, BRAWL!
Visions of Valor - Secret: When your opponent summons a Legendary minion, give all minions Windfury.
Visions of Knowledge - Secret: When your opponent's hand has 9 or more cards, reduce the cost of all cards in both hands to (1).
If all three are revealed, you get transported to a “secret level” where you transform into the Cow King. The Cow’s hero power has him draw a card for every bovine that dies. This is a reference to the secret cow level in Diablo II, it’s nice to see Blizzard bring back a classic meme. Unlocking the cow level doesn’t give you anything extra, it’s just a fun easter egg for hardcore fans.
