Deep in the darkest caves in our Journey To Un’Goro, we encountered a long passageway leading to prehistoric horrors. The newest Quest in Hearthstone’s next expansion is for Rogue and called The Caverns Below . In order to get through the cave and receive your reward on the other side, you are going to have to play four different minions with the same name. You might only be able to add three copies of a minion to your deck, but that doesn't mean you can’t complete your Quest.
Youthful Brewmaster, Shadowstep and Thistle Tea all add copies of cards to your hand, allowing you to potentially summon four of the same minion in one game. There’s also a brand new, unreleased card from JTUG , Mimic Pod . A three-mana Rogue spell that adds another copy of a card you draw to your hand doesn't sound too bad, considering Rogues already use Fan Of Knives for the draw more than the damage anyways- at least some of the time.
If you manage to complete The Caverns Below Quest, you get Crystal Core , which turns every minion you summon into a 5/5. Your deck is going to have to be filled with a lot of low cost minions in order to get some value out of that thing, can’t be using Edwin Van Cleef here.
Balancing Rogue’s Quest proved difficult according to Hearthstone developer Peter Whalen in a Hearthside chat: “Quests are intuitive and offer a clear path for deckbuilding. However, some of our classes are naturally trickier than others, so for Rogue we went in a slightly different direction.”
Quests want to have decks built around them, a Rogue deck that uses this card has to include as many cards that copy and draw as possible. It most likely won’t be top-tier, but it will be a fun deck just to play with friends.
