No matter what happens, Hearthstone can’t keep a good fish person down. With the Kobolds And Catacombs meta slowly setting in, deck builders are playing with the new cards and new archetypes are bound to appear. Or at least, that’s what I thought would happen. Turns out it’s just easier to add Corridor Creeper to older decks and call it a day. Murloc Paladin has been a Hearthstone staple ever since Blizzard released the stupidly powerful Anyfin Can Happen , which opened everyone's eyes to how powerful Murlocs can be. When that Paladin spell disappeared to Wild and Murloc Warleader got seriously nerfed, I thought it would be the end for our fishy folks, but it was only the beginning.
Murloc Paladin still uses a ton of small sticky minions to gain board control, but utilizes some of the newer cards in the set to buff them. Val’anyr, the Paladin Legendary weapon, is absolutely amazing when you consistently buff a deck of small disposable minions. There’s also the Unidentified Maul, the spiritual successor to Coghammer which gains a random buff effect at the start of the game. These cards turn your Vilefin Inquisitors and Righteous Protectors into useful minions that establish real board control.
Mulligans: Vilefin Inquisitor, Righteous Protector, Grimscale Chum and Hydrologist are all awesome cards, especially in Aggro match-ups. If you’re playing against a more Control-heavy deck like Big Priest, Murloc Tidecaller and Rockpool Hunter can help you push early damage very quickly.
