Hearthstone All-Star Squad Tavern Brawl Guide: What's The Best Card To Use?

Who will be on your All-Star Squad? Blizzard

This week’s Hearthstone Tavern Brawl is “All-Star Squad,” where you pick one card and it becomes most of your deck. You get 22 copies of whichever card you choose, along with eight random cards specific to your class. Blizzard has been giving us random Brawls the last couple of weeks, which I’m not a really a fan of. It’s kind of boring to pray to the RNG gods every week for a hand that works, though I do prefer not having to use Webspinners or Unstable Portals.

The class you choose isn’t very important, though Hunter and Rogue are always good picks. Dealing damage with your hero power or extra spells is always useful, especially when the players you are going up against are trying everything in their power to cheese you. I faced an entire deck of Addled Grizzlys that made me pull a little hair out of my head.

Remember, hold onto your pack until after the next expansion goes live. You don’t want to open it, just to get an extra Legendary or four Flame Imps you don’t need.

If you want the best cards to use in “All-Star Squad,” here’s what I recommend:

Patches: I hate this card more than I hate MTA train delays, but there’s no denying that it’s good here. Your whole deck is full of tiny murlocs with Charge and they all want to say hello at once. Summoning seven 1/1s on turn one can be devastating, especially if you can just refill the board every turn. In the few games I played, I faced off against the pirate multiple times, losing miserably no matter which card I chose.

I did manage to get one to rage quit after using Maelstrom Portal as my only card. Killing their whole field every turn was pretty gratifying, but the salty messages I received afterwards made it even better. There’s also Explosive Trap, if you’re feeling like trolling today.

Jade Idol: With just this card in your deck, you can summon 6/6 jade golems by turn three. You won’t beat the firepower of Patches , but you can take on anything else. Beefy minions for one mana are always fun to play with; if Hearthstone ever had an end-game fantasy, it would be this. There’s also Prince Malcheezar, but he can only make the deck 60 cards. Jade Idol can go on forever, dropping 30/30 behemoths like a boss.

Mind Blast- Five damage to the enemy hero for two mana, that’s pretty good. All you need to do is play six of these, which you can do easily by turn five and then you win. Mind Blast is the third-best card in this Tavern Brawl, but is still insanely busted. I’m not sure Blizzard really thought this one out. It’s not even fun to play, the person on the other side of the board can’t do anything to stop you. Still, if you just want your free pack, it’s a pretty good option.

Best Cards To Troll With:

Ice Block- You’ll get your free pack because your enemy will rage quit before turn seven ends.

Swashburglar- If you’re looking for consistency, you might not want to use to stick to Patches. If fun and RNG are your thing, then Rogue’s BFF should be perfect.
